Head of Hardware / Content Strategy at CGDirector

Jerry James is CGDirector’s resident PC hardware nerd – covering internal components in detail and offering insight to help people build an excellent PC and get the best value for their hard-earned money.

His passion for PC hardware stems from his days spent tinkering with a pre-built COMPAQ desktop that ran on an Intel Pentium 4 CPU and a motherboard with an integrated GPU (remember those!?). Getting increasingly frustrated with things ‘getting stuck’ in games, he began a deep dive into graphics cards, motherboards slots, CPUs, and other components. Two decades later, here we are!
In this field alone, he’s had the pleasure of closely working with companies like Microsoft, MSI (Jerry James on the MSI Blog), Evetech, and IGN.

Jerry now serves as a technical content strategist for a variety of businesses – ranging from Fortune 500 companies to startups. His work focuses on growing businesses that offer technical products and/or cater to technical audiences in domains like cybersecurity, cloud computing, software development, and also, yes, PC hardware components.

He originally started working as a web developer after completing his engineering degree in computer science – specializing in nodeJS and RESTful APIs. However, a little over a year later, the field of content strategy caught his fancy, especially when he realized it could intersect with his passion for technology.
