Hi everyone,
am trying to decide which laptop will best suit my needs for 3d cad and render applications. I use autocad, rhino, vray, twinmotion and photoshop.
The two i have in mind are:

XMG Apex
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900
GPU: RTX 2070 refresh
RAM: 32Gb samsung 3200
SSD: 500GB samsung evo 970

GIGABYTE AORUS 15P XC
CPU: INTEL i7-10870H
GPU: RTX 3070
RAM: 32Gb
SSD: 500GB

please share any thoughts, comments or reviews that will help me decide.

Thank you all!!!!

I'd say it depends on how much GPU power you need. If you're doing a lot of gpu rendering in vray and twinmotion, the Gigabyte is the better choice. If not, then the XMG with stronger CPU performance is the better choice.

Hi Alex, thank you for your input. As a matter of fact if I go with XMG I will use the Ryzen 7 3700x instead cause it performs better with those apps. After some reading though I want to ask you this. Would you invest on a laptop that has a replacebble CPU but with a previous generation gpu or one with soldered newer cpu and GPU?

Options are:
CPU : ryzen 7 3700x (can replace with more powerful in the future. With bios updates maybe even use ZEN 3)
GPU : RTX 2070 refresh

Or

CPU : Ryzen 7 5800H
GPU : RTX 3070

both same 32gb 3200ram and 970ssd

Thank you

Boy, that's a difficult decision! :D I'd probably go with the fixed CPU and better GPU, as I can't imagine a Laptop to last as long as a cpu upgrade would make it worth.

Hello to you,

i just so Happen to find myself asking the Same questions as you state in this discussion. Now Iˋve come to settle on the Ryzen 7 5800H. What was the conclusion of your search for the appropriate Laptop?
Thank you and kind regards

Hi, after some research and loooong waiting for that Ryzen 75800H I decided that I will go with intel.... Mainly was delays with the Ryzen... But.. Comparing them(through various websites) I realised that the difference is not that big. They do differ but I choose a Gigabyte AORUS finally with:
i7 10870 H
32gb Ram (which am planning to upgrade to 64)
500gb fast ssd
RTX 3070 max P
15.6 inch 240Mgh Pantone calibrated screen
The laptop is fast. I do my main work on my desktop and I have the laptop when am out of the office. I use Rhino, autocad, enscape and photoshop without any issues. The price was 1600 euro which is great for that specs.
A fast ssd, lots of ram and a powerful GPU is your main target. I will run some benchmarks and post them here at some point. I hope this helps.
