Hi to all :) hope you are all doing well ... Im a freelance 2d artist ... and im faar to be an 3d expert artist ..
I staarted learning z brush first and then briefly modo, maya , blender ..
Context : problem is that I don't have my main pc (which was a year and a half old ..) drama aside it was stolen alongside with other things ..
this days my working poney is an old cintiq companion 2 with 16gb ram ..
honestly I never want to use a laptop for serious work or invest money in them .. coz I don't travel a lot and when I do an ipad pro is enough ..
my budget is around 1000 ( 900 -1300) I hoenstly dont want to invest more in this .. and rather save it for later and buy a new tower .
I know z brush is more demanding in ram .. ..modeling need more a faster cpu .. and well here comes the gpu ..
this laptop will be focused to study not to making money from 3d .. so render times are not essential..
but I would wish.. it would have somehow nice live viewport experience ..
my idea is to add 32 gb ram .. but when it comes about laptop gpu's.. Im not an expert .. I know laptops cpu's and gpus run hot.. (and a couple of friends had serious issues .. ) ..
I don't have problems buying used from ebay if they are from a seller with good reputation ..
I was aiming to something with an 1660ti .. rtx2060 /2070 or a rtx3060 ..
Im planning to do FPO
low poly things for games.. , high poly characters .. vehicles, sci fi ..
my apologies in advance as I said Im a noob regarding 3d so m sure I said something that maybe its a noob mistake :p

Hey vladriko,
I am not entire sure if I understood you correctly. Do you want to invest in a PC or a Laptop? A PC will of course get you superior performance at the same price point so that should be the way to go if you're using the iPad pro when on the move.

Did you try our PC-Builder tool? It'll suggest you some build options for the kind of budget you're working with and workloads you intend to run on it.

Alex thanks for the reply .. ! :) haha yeah I messed up with he ideas I was talking about .. to throw some light on that .. I was saying that I do consider a pc ( building one ) a better investment performance per dollar .. no questions about that .. but I can't afford that ..now. and with the recent incidents I had in my life I think a laptop is a way to go ... until I gather more money ..
since my only work machine is an old cintiq companion 2 with an ulv cpu .. it barely handles my 2d work so... Im forced to buy something now (a laptop ..) that can handle my work (and my 3D studies ) . at least till next year.. were I think I could afford and build a new one .(hopefully next year) besides I have a couple of voyages this year .. so a laptop is/could be a good option.. I think..
my budget is around 900-1000 usd .. (I can stretch to 1300-1500 but I prefer not to ) ... there are many options .. refurbished/new and used ..
some laptops have a 1660ti but its an old gtx gen.
others have a 2060 other used have a rtx2070 .. and I saw a newer ones with in my budget with the new rtx3060 .
what I don't know if it's worth to invest in a laptop with a rtx3060 or buy one with a rtx2060 *a used laptop around 1000 usd.)
if is worth the money to invest into that or the gain I would obtain is marginal 2060 vs 2070 vs 3060 .
a friend keep saying ''just buy the cheaper one with the 1660ti '' call it a day and start saving for the new pc build . ..
regards .
keep in mind Im learning 3d ..
ps: I saw a couple of guys using a M1 mac mini but its a mac .. lot of troubles.. lack of ram (only 16gb) no cuda..

Take a look at the Lenovo Legion Laptops which are often recommended for lower budgets like yours. They have great value: https://amzn.to/3uvrQH6

Thankx alex .. I was tempted by this one it has a rtx 2070 but thinking .. if jumping to an rtx2070 the performance would be noticeable .. its a used model I have that in mind too .. 1350u$d .. some hundred bucks above what I was thinking to spend ..

An RTX2070 in a laptop is quite powerful, though you have to consider cooling as well. If you do lots of sustained gpu rendering you will most likely encounter throttling due to insufficient cooling, which'll impact performance.

The specs on the Laptop you linked are good, though I'm not sure they are worth the asking price, especially if it's used to be honest.
