Hello there, I am in a hurry to build a machine that helps me to work smoothly with, Blender, Davinci Resolve, Fusion studio, Unreal Engine. All Affinity software.
I would like an steep up from what I have.

Current build:
Double boot:
Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
Linux Ubuntu 18
System Type x64-based PC
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6850K CPU @ 3.60GHz, 3600 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)6
BaseBoard Manufacturer MSI
BaseBoard Product X99A GAMING 7 (MS-7885)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 128 GB
1500W psu.
2 x GTX 1080 ti

I was thinking between :
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-core
Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX 24 Core (MB:
MSI TRX40 PRO 10G)

I currently have the RTX A5000 which I want to use with the new build.
I would get other GPU, probably a Tesla k80 just to add CUDA cores for the old machine. I am aware that is a old tech but if I confirm that is compatible with Opticx I will get one with a custom cooler (it is a server card). This old machine will have 3 cards to render while I work in the other one.

Sugestions, and advise are very welcome!

Thank you!

I'd definitely pick the 5950X over the 2970X for the PC you are actively working on. The higher clock speed and IPC / newer generational architecture on the Ryzen 5xxx Series is a lot better for snappy active work with minimum lag. (Check these benchmarks here (https://www.cgdirector.com/cinema-4d-viewport-performance-benchmark-scores/)

I am not entirely sure why you would want to opt for a Tesla GPU as even mainstream GPUs such as the current-gen 3xxx RTX GPUs are a lot stronger in terms of rendering performance. A 3080 or 3090 is about 10x as fast as an old Tesla K80. (Of course it'll depend on what budget you have for them)

If I understand you correctly you would run 3 GPUs on the i7-6850K, right? That CPU has 40 PCIe Lanes, so you should have no trouble driving them with it.

Thank you so much for your recommendation. The k80 is about 290 on ebay. There is not other cheap card with the amount of CUDA cores to compete with that price today. So I was thinking to add to the new build the A5000 and the K80, or add it to the old rig, but I found out that there will be conflict with the drivers. So unless there is a hack it will be impossible to run them together.
