Better GPU or more RAM for 3D rendering?

I am beginning more regular work in 3D model rendering that will require quick physically-based path trace rendering and fast output for final renders. So the problem I have is I am looking at a specific laptop series and am having trouble deciding between models. Here are the primary differences in the machines:
Model 1: 16GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 3070
Model 2: 32GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 3060

Now ideally I would prefer one that has 32GB RAM with the 3070 but unfortunately no such model exists and the model with 32GB RAM + 3080 is out of my budget. Very frustrating situation. Very.

So here's the question, which one would perform my needs more effectively? My instincts say 16GB of RAM is pushing the limits and will quickly become dated, but what I am not sure is if the 3070 would pick up the slack. Or maybe that would only be the case for smaller renders i.e. "Model 1" would perform better for small renders and live physically-based path trace rendering and "Model 2" would perform better for larger renders. IDK though, that's why I'm here. Please help me. Thank you in advance.

16GB of RAM really is quite a low capacity for serious 3D Rendering. Unless your projects are very simple (like low-poly stuff) I'd say the RAM is the deciding factor here.
