So, I have a dilemma, I want to upgrade the hardware.
My job is 90% sculpting in Blender and simple renderings of my models but I am mostly interested in the configuration for quality sculpting work.
Now I have a Ryzen 7 1700, Aorus b 450 elite, 24GB of RAM. I have a dilemma, the first version to buy, amd threadripper with 64 Gb memory but to stay on this Motherboard, or buy Aorus Gygabite X570 Elite, Ryzen 9 3900xt and 128Gb ram memory. Which is a better option, a Ryzen 9 with a lot more RAM or a Threadripper with less memory on the old motherboard. Thank you for your help.

I am not sure why you mean you would keep the old motherboard, as the Threadripper is not compatible with a b450 Motherboard?

For scultping I would definitely get the CPU which clocks higher, and that is the 3900XT. You'll have much better performance than on a Threadripper.

You don't necessarily need the 128GB of RAM unless your models are extremely complex though.

So for sculpting in Blender a better option is 9 3900xt than Threadripper, I didn’t know that. This is great news, plus I can stay then for now on 64GB of RAM. Thank you for your help, you have saved me a significant amount of money.

Yes sculpting is an active workload that benefits more from high clocking cpus but not necessarily from cpus that have a high core count. Rendering is a good example that would make best use of a Threadripper.
