Hi
I am looking to get into Blender and various graphic programs ie Adobe CC, fractal programs and geometry programs. I have done quite a bit of research but to be honest Im really not sure and just keep spinning round. Ive been recommended to go for an AMD Ryzen 7 or higher over an Intel i7 or higher but I dont know if I can get away with either. I have been told to get the best GPU I can afford as well.

I plan to try to combine the various programs to make art in Photoshop probably mainly but to see what can be achieved in Blender too. I dont think Ill be making anything massive in Blender. Maybe some sort of scenery, characters or whatever to create art and print with but I have no proper idea at the moment as to what Blender is capable of apart from some of the room and item scenes Ive seen already.

Specs I would like are:

16GB+ RAM
1TB SSD hard drive
Ryzen 7+ or (Intel i7+)
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
15.6-17" IPS screen

I have a few options but a lot of them come with the GeForce RTX 2060. And options with a better GPU can be £300-£500+ more.

I really want to know if I should definitely go with an AMD processor and also if a GeForce RTX 2060 would be fine for me to use or if I should stretch now to get a better GPU? At some point I may look to build/buy a desktop which would be more powerful but that may be a bit down the line.

My budget is about £1500 give or take. Id like to spend about £1200 but if its recommended now I could stretch up. Ive seen a couple of ASUS TUF laptops but Ive heard they have thermal issues and then theres a Lenovo Legion 5 but only has the RTX 2060 but this is only £1150. Im leaning towards this to start out with but wanted advice as if I consider Intel i7 laptops this opens up more brands and recommended ones from online.

Thanks

The Lenovo Legion is quite good and there should also be a R7 5800H + 3070 option to buy. Might not have arrived in your location yet? They are quite new.

Thanks Alex. I ended up going for the cheaper Lenovo legion for the time being while I'm learning etc. I figured when I'm more up to speed with everything I'll get a better desktop set up and see how I go. I didn't see any 5800H and GeForce 3070 laptops especially in my budget.
