GPU Render Farm - Independent artist 3090rtx FE

Hello everyone,

Thank you Alex and community for this incredible space to talk everything about tech !
And the ultimate guide on how to build a render farm, it was flawless !



Now I am at a point of finally building my own render node and was looking for some advices & approval on the build,
since I am not entirely sure about my tech knowledge.


Here is the set up :

GPU -
4x Nvidia RTX 3090 Founders Edition

CPU -
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3960X

RAM -
64gb
4x 16 gb HYPERX

MOTHERBOARD -
GIGABYTE TRX40 Designare

SSD -
CRUCIAL 2tb

PSU -
EVGA SuperNOVA 2000 G

CASE -
Fractal Design Pop XL TG Silent Full Tower EATX Tempered Glass USB 3.2 Black
or
Fractal Design Define XL R2


I would highly appreciate any feedback,
feeling a little bit nervous for such a big and pricey step up in my workflow !

This looks like a great build in theory, though the Nvidia RTX 3090 Founders Edition is triple-slot and you won't get 4 of them inside that case, or with any TRX40 motherboard. The only option is to either get 4x dual-slot GPUs (e.g. RTX 4070) or get 2x 4090, which will amount to about the same performance.

Could I ask you for an advice regarding a case and a motherboard that would work with x4 3090.

Got seriously stuck on the motherboard & case part and making sure everything is compatible together.

If you're set on the GPUs and Motherboard, the only thing I can think of is using riser cables. But you'll have to get a different case then

I guess the only part I am set on in this build is the use of x4 3090 and everythign else could be a subject of change, but which motherboard and case would work for this build then ?
