How many cores?

How many cores am I supposed to get? I was thinking to get the Intel i7. (this is my first build).

If you're going for an i7 you could use the six core CPU or if money isn't an issue, go for the i7 eight core.

This is just my opinion, I would wait for either Alex or Jerry to give you a more concrete answer.

This of course depends a bit on what budget you're working with. 6 Cores is usually sufficient for most Games, even at high framerates. The Ryzen 5600X is a great CPU for Gaming if you want to go the AMD route, or an i7 such as the 10600k.

It also kinda depends on what kind of games you're playing. If you're mostly into fast-paced competitive games like Overwatch or CS:GO, cores won't matter as much. However, if you're planning to play newer titles like Cyberpunk and Assassins Creed, all indications are, they do use 8 cores quite well. A Core i7 10700K would be a good choice in the latter case.

PS: Avoid 9th Generation Intel CPUs (9000 series) unless you're getting a deal on an i7 9900K as most of the products in the lineup don't have multithreading.
