Hey Justin,
In my opinion that's a pretty good build for 3D Work for its price range. You could save a few bucks if you don't get a third party cooler and just use the boxed cooler.

Hey Ronnie,
What kind of Render Engines are you using? CPU or GPU Rendering?

The CPU is pretty great for CPU Rendering as it comes with 16 Cores and the 2070 Super comes with high performance for gpu rendering. If you are doing both (hybrid rendering) that's a great combination. If you're only doing one of the two, you might be able to specialize this a bit further to maximize the rendering performance.

You could switch out the 9700K for a Core i7 10700K or a Ryzen 7 3700X. You'll need a Z490 or X570/B550 motherboard to use those processors. I would recommend staying away from 9th Gen Intel due to the lack of an upgrade path.
Check prices for those parts in your region and make your decision. The 10700K would be just slightly better than the 3700X for rendering and will also offer a noticeable performance bump for apps like AfterEffects.

Hi Alex,

I am looking to build a computer to run a lot of CAD modeling and rendering programs including Autocad, 3dsmax, Rhino, Solidworks, sketchup, and corona or vray or keyshot. I was messing around with the pc builder and was wondering if this would be a good setup for what I am looking to do.

Looks like a solid build for that kind of a budget. Solidworks does make good use of Quadro GPUs, but unless it is your main workload, you will probably be much happier with a 1660Ti that also lets you do some decent rendering and gets you higher performance in some of the other Apps you listed.

I'd say go for it!

Hey Qani,
Sure, the components themselve are extremely good for 3D Modeling workloads. You don't necessarily need such a strong GPU or that many CPU cores though if all you do is modeling. If you are doing some cpu or gpu rendering too, though, then they come on handy.

Do see if you can find a cheaper listing of that motherboard, as 500$ is quite high for the Unify. The 2080Ti should optimally be somewhere around 1200$.

Just recently, I finally upgraded my 7+-year-old computer. I was able to find a good deal on an HP Omen, with a Geforce RTX 2060 graphics card.
So, not only was I able to upload the latest build of Blender, but I was able to go back and tweak some renders I had done with the old computer.
For example, I had done a render of the robot from Lost in Space a while back. And while it wasn't necessarily a bad render, it could have used some extra work. The problem was, that with my old computer, to do the type of material adjustments, etc. that would give the render that something little more required doing test renders in order to see the end result, and this could take a long time on the old system. This made it so that I just wasn't that enthusiastic about making those small adjustments.
Below is the newer version.
