Hi,

I'm wondering is it ok to leave your workstation running all the time?

Or should you at least let it hibernate/sleep?

Or does it not matter at all?

My desktop is a decent 3D rendering build, in case the specs matter.

Thanks!

Boy, do we have an article for you! https://www.cgdirector.com/should-you-shut-down-pc-every-night/

To sum up, theoretically it's fine to leave it running all the time, but it can certainly increase performance, keep errors/bugs lower if you restart (shutdown) it every once in a while to clear caches, get updates, etc. Hybernating or sleeping won't give you the benefit of a true shutdown/restart as it doesn't reset/clear all the caches.

That said, IMO it's a waste of electricity / power cost and not very eco-friendly to keep a PC on that pulls 150w+ even in idle running all the time, when you're not using it for a prolonged time.
