Alright! So I'm an editor and I've been rocking an extremely underpowered computer for a couple years now because of the pandemic shortages. Now that GPU's are once again available... What the heck do I get? (All specs on what I have are below)

I edit in Premiere Pro. I do minor VFX but would like to do some more once I get a more powerful computer. I'm really trying not to break the bank on this thing but if it's something I'm not going to have to pay for for a while then I can be a bit flexible. I've really gotta swap this GPU out though because it's the only thing that makes sense to me on why it's running so slow.

It does what I needed it to do, but now I need it to do more. Someone please guide me to the promise land.

SPECS:
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor
Radeon RX 580 Gaming X 8G
750W Power Supply
64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
64 GB of RAM

I'd look into picking something like an RTX 3060 Ti for excellent value. And yes, that RX 580 is most likely holding your system back.

You're actually off to a good start with what you have. You could upgrade some parts to make your current rig run a lot better in video editing workloads, though. For one, I'd upgrade the GPU to an Nvidia Model that is more up-to-date, such as a RTX 3070.

I'lll need some more detailed specs (motherboard, storage etc.) to make any other suggestions though.
