Hi ! What do you think about this rig? It will mainly serve for rendering in Corona and modelling in rhino, C4D and 3dsMax. I plan to dig into UE5 so I need a GPU configuration above the average.

Intel i9 13900K
MB Gygabite Aorus Master z790
GPU Nvidia Rtx 3970
Cooler Master 360
SSd Samsung 980 1Tb for the main storage, but I need a secondary solution to store closed projects and libraries, what do you recommend?
128 RAM- 2x Kingston fury beast 64GB 5200MHZ DDR5 CL40 DIMM
Power supply Corsair hx1000i
Case: fractal meshify (?) NZXT H7 (?) anu sugestiona gere that is suited but doesn’t cost a fortune?

Biggest question here: should I opt for the Z790 motherboard, and ddr5 memory, considering the cost increase? Will I get any benefit? Or should I build the computer around the Z690/ddr4?

Thanks a lot

You're looking at the RTX 3070, right? There is no 3970.

Looks like a solid build for your workloads! I see no issues.

The ddr5 / ddr4 question is one that many currently have. Personally, if I were build an entirely new rig with 128GB of RAM (and I don't have 128GB of DDR4 RAM from my previous build) I'd go DDR5 now.

That way, at least you have 128gb of ddr5 RAM for any potential future upgrades.

If you were to go DDR4 / Z690 now, and buy 128GB DDR4 RAM now for a lower price, you'd have to get DDR5 on your next upgrade anyway, which seems like more of a waste to me, than going with DDR5 now.

Hi Alex.
Thank you for your answer. Yes. My mistake. I was talking about RTX 3070 ti. I’m not very used to this since I’m a Mac user since 2004. Sorry.
Then I’ll go to Z790/DDR5.
And I opted for a Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX instead of mastercooler AIO. And for the graphics card the ASUS VGA ROG-STRIX-RTX3070TI-O8G-GAMING.

What about Thermalright anti-bending buckle? Do you see any advantages?

Thanks a lot

Looks good to me!

You might have marginal lower temps with the buckle, but I don't think it's needed really.
