Hey folks,

Quite new to PC building but I need a serious upgrade for work. I primarily work in Maya and Arnold for modeling, animation and rendering but my current setup just isn't cutting it. I'm hoping to build a decent pc that wont really require an upgrade any time soon. Below is the build recommended by the pc builder function. Anywhere I could potentially save money or anywhere maybe I would need an upgrade? I could maybe do with more storage? Maybe an extra HDD? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jamie.

Hi. You're aiming to render everything with your GPU, right?

For the moment I'll be sticking with CPU rendering in Arnold but in the future I might make the move, think the GPU is a little overkill?

RTX 3090 is a beast of a GPU. If you are aiming to move to GPU rendering in the near future, I guess it's okay. Alex and Jerry will probably know better.
Now, if you will make the move in, let's say, 6 months, you should definitely wait to buy a high end GPU. Due to stock shortage, GPUs are way overpriced at the moment and I think that this situation should revert as time goes by.
In regards to the CPU, it has the highest single core performance (that's the kind of performance you'll need for animating and modeling) on the market today. An expensive pick also.
But the guys will know better than me. Same applies to the rest of the build.

Cheers!

I meant "beast of a GPU", not cpu 😅

Hey Jamie,
The build is top-notch, though as Mstein mentioned, both GPUs and CPUs are quite price-inflated currently and waiting a couple of weeks or even a couple of months would allow you to spend considerably less on those parts.

I am not entirely sure you'll want a 3090 too. If you have budget constraints, the RTX 3080 isn't much slower but a lot cheaper than the 3090, so that one would be a more valuable option.
