PC Build Review for 3D modeling/rendering

Hello,

This will be my first PC build! I'm super excited but also very nervous about messing something up lol. I mostly work with photoshop/illustrator but recently started using Blender/Maya/Substance Painter. I want a build that can mostly keep up with the viewport, especially with sculpting. I'm not rendering large environment scenes and multitasking like crazy right now, but I would like the option to upgrade my pc for a heavier workload down the line. My budget is around ~1300 USD

Here is what I got from the pc builder:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 3.9GHz 8-Core Processor ($339.98)
CPU Cooler: AMD Wraith Prism Cooler (Included with CPU) (-)
Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus ATX AM4 ($164.99)
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660TI 6GB - Gigabyte Windforce ($279.99)
Memory: 32GB (2 x 16GB) G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3200 C16 ($109.99)
Storage PCIe-SSD: Crucial P1 1TB, M.2 Solid State Drive ($104.99)
Power Supply: Corsair CX Series CX550M 550W ATX 2.4 Power Supply ($84.98)
Case: Fractal Design Define R5 Black ATX Mid Tower Case ($110.39)
Total: $1195.31

I was also planning to add in a Seagate Barracuda 2 TB 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive. I was wondering if I could switch out the Crucial P1 for a WD Blue NVMe M.2 SSD 500GB and if that would be a good combination of storage?
Also, at what point would I need to upgrade the PSU? Would it be wise to initially buy something with 650-750W?

Hey Henry,
The build looks good to me. You have a x570 motherboard, meaning you have suppot for some of the next gen cpus. The GTX 1660 is a mid-tier GPU but this too you can easily upgrade in the future when you have some more money to spend.

You can easily add a bunch of HDD or SSDs so feel free to get the Seagate Barracuda and hook it up. You can get the WD Blue instead of the Crucial nvme ssd if you want to. They are both nvme and similarly fast.

You'll need a new PSU if you either add another gpu to your current setup or a bunch of other devices such as storage. A couple of devices is fine, but if you had, say, 10 extra hdds, then I'd recommend a stronger psu.

You can easily already get a stronger psu now, as they are not that much more expensive. A 850W PSU for example would last you a long time.
