Hey, first time on this site. Seems extremely helpful so here goes,

Budget:
$2000 -$2500 AUD, roughly $1500 - $2000 USD.

Workloads:
Maya is the most used, a bit of photoshop, premiere, ae and I wanted to get into zbrush in the future.

Upgrade:
I'm currently working off a Macbook pro 2018 which heats up often and is dying on me.

Country to shop:
Australia

Build suggestion:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6GHz 8-Core Processor $509
CPU Cooler: AMD Wraith Prism Cooler (Included with CPU)
Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 Gaming X ATX AM4 $279
GPU: Nvidia RTX 2070 8GB - MSI Gaming $1600
Memory: 32GB (2 x 16GB) Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 C16 $189
Storage PCIe-SSD: Samsung 970 PRO 512GB M.2 Solid State Drive $227
Power Supply: Corsair CX Series CX550 550W ATX 2.4 Power Supply $119
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2 D-RGB Tempered Glass Full-Tower ATX Case $219
Total: $3,142 AUD

This is mostly from the 'best PC for 3D animation' article, would this be an ideal set up for me as I will be modelling and rendering as well? It's a bit over budget so would there be any parts that I should replace?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Sam,
The build would perform well for your workloads, though the price tag on that 2070 super is crazy. 2070 Supers usually go at around 500$, so be sure you don't overpay here. The 3700X CPU is a bit price inflated as well, look out for deals on this. We are seeing price inflations for gpus and cpus across the board currently, because stock is so low. Might want to wait a couple of weeks.

The NVMe SSD can also be swapped for a cheaper one, as the PRO variant of the Samsung are targeted at professionals and only have slightly higher performance than their EVO PLUS series.

You can also get away with buying a Crucial P1 1tb nvme instead of spending that much on a samsung 512 ssd

Just want to let you guys know, I'm looking through tons of older posts and gathering information that you're answering everyone. The various responses to a variety of situations are absolute gold in my eyes ("none the wiser as those who have experience"). Thank you enormously for all this free information in a world that idolizes personal profit. Much appreciated...
