Hello,

I'm looking to build a new PC for CPU rendering with vray & 3dsmax with a buget around 3000.-

CPU: Intel Core i9 13900K 3.0GHz 24-Core Processor > i'm shure with this choice
CPU Cooler: ? > I read that CPU rendering can make it go around 300w ! Hard to find something.
Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z790-P
GPU: ASUS TUF-RTX4070TI-12G-GAMING > no need a high GPU for CPU rendering
Memory: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 2x32GB, 5600 MHz, RAM DDR5, DIMM > I want to have 128 Gb but I don't find 4x32Gb RAM, can I just use 2x2x32Gb? And 13900k can't manage more than 5600 Mhz right ?
Storage PCIe-SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 2000 Go, M.2 2280 > shure
Power Supply: be quiet! Système Power 10 850W > or maybe 1000W
Case: Corsair 4000D > egual...

So my questions are, have you a CPU cooler not so expensive to advice and how to manage 128Gb RAM ?

Cheers,
Antoine

We actually recommend going AMD for CPU rendering workloads because you get much better performance per watt and the total performance differential is negligible between the two.

Managing all the heat and power draw from the Core i9 13900K is almost never worth it. The CPU cooler will add a good bit of cost because you'll quickly throttle when using all cores on that CPU without a top-tier cooler.

I want to have 128 Gb but I don't find 4x32Gb RAM, can I just use 2x2x32Gb?
If you're fine with potentially lower speeds, yes that's the way to go. More info here - https://www.cgdirector.com/ddr5-ram-ryzen-beware/#So_128GB_DDR5_for_Workstations_-_Yay_or_Nay

Hello Jerry, thank your for your answer.

I already have an AMD Threadripper 2990WX, but I'm having so many problems. My idea is to have a computer that can work quickly (for modeling and rendering tests), and I will do distributed rendering on both computers to speed things up.

So I'm a little bit lost... If there is no powerful cooler available, and "DDR5-6000 today would be equivalent to something like a DDR4-2800/2666 kit," and I need to buy 2x48GB RAM (the only kit I found is unavailable: Vengeance DDR5-5200-Kit, Intel optimized, 96GB CMK96GX5M2B5200C38), I don't know what to do :)

From a technology standpoint.
From a speed POV, you'll still be gaining quite a bit. If you have no option except 128GB, just grab slower memory and it'll do just fine.
