Hi, all, my name's Ryan and I'm not ashamed to admit that I don't know the difference between a Ryzen and a basketball, so please excuse my ignorance. I'm trying to build a pc for engineering as I use Solidworks and Fusion 360 in my Fabrication business. I'm in serious need of some good advice in terms of what will run CAD and CAM software easily and reasonably quickly. I've copied this list from the pc builder, and I'm hoping someone can take a look and see if should do what I want. If not, please point out any substitutes that would be better suited to the task. Thanks in advance for any advice.

CGDirector.com Parts List:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3.8GHz 8-Core Processor ($421.05)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 ($89.90)
Motherboard: MSI X570 Tomahawk ATX AM4 ($262.13)
GPU: Nvidia RTX 2080 8GB - EVGA XC Gaming ($1489.00)
Memory: 32GB (2 x 16GB) G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 C16 ($229.99)
Storage PCIe-SSD: Sabrent Rocket 1TB NVMe Gen4 M.2 Solid State Drive ($159.98)
Power Supply: EVGA 650 B5, 80 Plus Bronze 650W Power Supply ($72.00)
Case: Phanteks Eclipse P300 ATX Mid Tower Case ($160.17)
Total: $2884.22

Apologies for missing your post! No clue how this slipped by me.

The build looks pretty solid except that horrendously priced GPU. You can definitely find better options locally. Try snagging an RTX 3080 instead.

Everything else looks good for a CAD build.

PS. Do you work with fluid sims, etc?
