Hi can you recommend a pc this will be my main desktop workstation my budget is $1500- $2000 but am willing to go up slightly to accommodate a future proof build. I will be using The BenQ SW271 as an external monitor connecting it with the USB type-C if possible. I would like take full advantage of the 4k 10-bit color depth with 14-bit 3D LUT Hardware Calibration.

I will be using it for Raw photo and 4k + 8k video editing. The software I tend to use every day includes (in order of importance):

Photoshop ( would like to use the 32 bit channel without worry of a computer crash )

Illustrator

After Effects

Lightroom

Zbrush

Thank you

thank you Alex, i have a couple of question

1. To make sure I understand completely this build will accommodate The BenQ SW271 as an external monitor and can be connected using any of the following signal types USB type-C cable (1m), mDP to DP 1.4 cable (1.8m), HDMI 2.0 cable (1.8m), USB 3.1 cable (Gen 1)(1.8m)‎ while still running at full resolution?

2. Which signal type would you suggest I use to get the best possible color accuracy and picture quality?

3. What are your thoughts on this storage combo and will it work with this build:

Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SATA3 2.5inch SSD
Primary drive. (OS & applications)
Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB M.2 SSD
Secondary drive. (active projects)
Western Digital Black 6TB SATA3
Tertiary drive. (archives / storage)

thank you for all of your help!

Hey Grace,
1. The GPU has at least DP and HDMI so no trouble there.
2. As the The BenQ SW271 is a 60hz monitor all of those connections will give you the same quality. You decide! :)
3. The Storage combo is solid! I wouldn't change a thing

Cheers

Hey, Alex, I was doing some more research on your site and I was wondering if I needed a Blackmagic Decklink Card for my workflow and setup to get 10-bit representation?

thank you
