RTX 3060 12GB vs 3070 8GB? Need quick answer please!

Those are my only two options currently! I just can't get hold of RTX3090 or RTX3080 for under $2500-3000!!!!
I need to pick between RTX 3060 12GB ($550) and RTX 3070 8GB ($750).
For rendering the 3070 would be faster but what use would that be if the scene would not fit? Would the 3060 with extra 4GB of RAM be a better buy for the short term (rest of 2021)?

Went for RTX3070 but failed to bag it. Really disappointed! What strange times we are living in!
Funnily the retailer switched the price and jacked it up by another $140, either way I did not succeed!!!!
No 5900X/5950X and no GPU. Time to become a thief and break into places lol

Ah damn. So close. At least you found one in stock . I know many who've been staring at an out-of-stock notice for 4 straight months now.
