SSD for real time 3D

Hi Alex,

I work mainly with Unreal Engine and Blender (Cycles GPU).
I have read your guide about SSDs, but what if I want to have 2 of them, one for the OS and one for the projects? Which one of them should be faster? Should I prefer the PCIe 4?

Thank you very much for your work!
Stefano

Hey Stefano,
I recommend using the faster of the two for your project files. The OS does not necessarily need such a fast drive, but your footage and scene / project files can benefit from it considerably.

You'll benefit from pcie4 if you think you need high sequential read and write speeds, as is the case for example in video editing with large footage or for loading scene data in realtime as can be the case in unreal.

Cheers
