Hi everyone,

I'm slowly growing my list of clients and need to upgrade from a laptop to something that lets me render faster without me wanting to pull my hair out.
I work in Premiere Pro, After Effects, Da Vinci (including fusion), Blender, Photoshop. I also plan to work in Nuke.

My current machine (laptop) is:
Dell XPS 15 9570
Chip: i7 8th Gen 6 cores 2.20GhZ
Graphics Card: GTX 1050Ti
Ram:32GB

I shoot on a BMPCC at 6k resolution and usually use proxies at 1080p. Ideally, I would love to be able to edit at least 4k and be able to render fast which is the main issue at the moment as soon as I have more GPU intensive effects and I would also like to improve Ae performance.

This is a build that someone suggested. First of all, I don't know Zotac and how much it differs from the other manufacturers. I also don't want to overspec as I could use the budget for something else (I can go up to 2.300/400 dollars). The monitor I would buy separately so I wouldn't keep it in this discussion. I think that 64GB of ram would be better than 32GB.

My goal:
-Smooth video editing and motion graphics (decreasing considerable render time)
-Light to medium 3D animation renders
-Compositing
-Unreal Engine for set extensions

I'm really confused as all the advice I can get is from gamers who don't have the same needs as I do.

The build looks good overall, though there are drastically diminishing returns on the high end in terms of GPU performance in premiere pro.

You'll see almost no difference between, say, a RTX 3070 and a 3080Ti, so if you'd like to save some money, I would downgrade that GPU.

Of course, if you're doing heavy Davinci Editing, then yes, the GPU would make more sense, as Davinci Resolve and Fusion make great use of it.

If you're doing Blender GPU rendering, too, stick to the high-end GPU.

Zotac is a viable Brand to buy from. They are known to be more of a budget brand, but they perform just as well as more well-known brands such as MSI, Asus, EVGA etc. We wrote an article on this here.

The Motherboard won't allow you to add an addition GPU in the future or do heavy storage upgrades, so if that's something you're thinking of doing, I'd go with a full-sized Z690 Motherboard instead of the mATX B660. The second expansion slot only support pcie3 x4.

Thank you very much for replying.

I figured that the 3080 and 3090 were a bit overkill for my use. I'm not a 3D artist, I would integrate 3D with my other work but its not my main thing. All I want to nice video editing, motion graphics, light 3D rendering and compositing.

I just bought an Asus GTX 3070Ti 8GB, which saved me so much money. When prices go down, I'll either upgrade or add a second card.

Would this MSI z690 work?https://www.cclonline.com/product/3...bZcFlaGhe5NXpX4DJj38czsQChM7dpQ0aAuNvEALw_wcB

I was wondering, do you think that Patriot ram is as good as Vengeance?

RAM brands aren't as important, more important are specs that you compare such as latency, frequency, channels, ranks etc. Check our articles for this as we've covered this extensively.

The Z690 Motherboard you listed will work for any current-gen Intel LGA 1700 CPU, yes.
