Chaos Announces Chaos Vantage 1.2
Chaos rolled out an update to Vantage, a popular tool to instantly explore 3D scenes. Version 1.2 of Vantage brings support for the Clear coat V-Ray Material. It also adds support for importing multiple cameras from a single .vrscene file and for glossy Fresnel reflections. You can find the full list of changes here.
Greyscalegorilla Expands Its Subscription Offering
By bringing ALL Greyscalegorilla HDRIs, materials, plugins, and training under its Plus subscription service, the company has effectively switched to a subscription-only pricing model. The subscription now grants access to 8 Cinema4D plugins, 1400+ materials and textures, 9 HDRI packs, and 500+ hours of training videos. Plus subscriptions are priced at $49/month when billed monthly and $33.25/month ($399/year) if billed annually. Read more.
Nevercenter Releases Major Update to Silo After Years
Nevercenter recently hit the news when it released Silo 2021 – the first major update to its lightweight modeling application in years! The release adds support for blendshapes, variable Sub-D edge creasing, and Milo – a new standalone real-time render engine and VR viewer based on Unreal Engine. Apple Announces Brand-New 24” iMac and iPad Pro with M1 Chips
Apple’s certainly in a hurry to get Intel out of their system (pun intended) and it plowed on with updates to their iMac lineup. The new iMacs will come equipped with Apple’s own silicon – Apple M1. In the same keynote, the company also announced a new generation, Mini-LED iPad Pro that uses M1 and delivers true HDR to a tablet. The use of a laptop/desktop chip on the iPad not only helps with improving performance but also brings new capabilities to the iPad Pro – one of the most notable being support for Thunderbolt. In what continues to be a disastrous year for anyone wanting to buy a graphics card, Nvidia might be planning yet another release to entice us. The graphics card, as expected, features a cut-down version of the GA-102 die, offers 12GB GDDR6X memory, and 10,240 CUDA cores, which is extremely close to the 10,496 CUDA count of an RTX 3090. For comparison, the RTX 3080 houses 8,704 CUDA cores. We’ll get back to you with more details if/when Nvidia confirms this. Read more.
