I first hooked this dock up to my daughters Huawei Kepler MateBook D laptop with USB C to update the firmware (my work laptop has pretty tight restrictions on what can be run). What I found was it charged the Huawei thru the dock with the laptops power plug hooked to the adapter with no problems. The USB ports worked fine with a Logitech unifying receiver, network port worked great and both monitors worked without issue.
The Dell was a little bit harder to get to work well. The Dell is not USB C, but Thunderbolt3. Charging is a no-go with the Dell. The Dell comes with a 140W power supply and the 60W provided thru the adapter is not enough, but you do still need to have a 60W power supply hooked to the adapter to get it to work right. I also had to switch my monitor cable adapters to "active" adapters to get the monitors to work. Once I worked thru these issues though, it has worked flawlessly.
At $60 you can't beat it. My Dell Business Thunderbolt Dock TB16 that I have on my desk at work (and is designed to work with Dell ThunderBolt3 laptops) is $299 and has been replaced once already. So it works great with a USB C laptop and it can also work great over ThunderBolt3.
So why am I returning this? Well, If I am not in the the office, I am working from home, so the portability factor wasn't a big deal. Also, the product mentions heavy support of PD as a fantastic feature - and it is. However, it doesn't actually come with the cable for PD. So factor in this product at about sixty bucks and then you have to buy the PD cable for this item at about thirty to forty dollars and before you know it, you are spending about a hundred dollars. What I then found out is that the official dell dock that does the exact same thing floats about $95-$140. I caught it on a good day at $98 and so now it is on par with a non-dell product - PLUS the dell product comes with a DELL charger - I just feel better about have the factory brand product that I bought here -> Dell 452-BCYT D6000 Universal Dock, Black
Overall, it's a great product and simply worked just by plugging it in, but when it is about the same price as the one from Dell and it comes with the Dell power-cord that connects to the Dock as well as the laptop itself, it's just not worth the $90-$100 for this product.
Disclaimer: Amazon contacted me - NOT the seller or anyone else and asked me to leave a review (positive or negative) because they didn't have any yet. Amazon said they would give me 3 bucks for my review as part of the "Amazon Early Reviewers Program"
I bought a System76 Lemur Pro, and it only has usb-c 3.1 with displayport support, so I needed a dock that was NOT thunderbolt 3 and supported both of my monitors.
This dock works great! The Lemur Pro can run both monitors at full resolution, the 100 ethernet works, and I have a usb hub plugged into one of the usb 2.0 ports. The hub has a keyboard, mouse, and trackpad plugged in.
I've only been using the dock for a few days, so I can't comment on longevity yet, but so far it's a 5 star product for me.
