---|---|---|---|
Extreme Stability and OverclockingA 14+2 phase power design implements a larger V-Core than the AMD reference spec so it's able to provide you with more stable gameplay by better distributing power across more VRMs which results in more headroom. This allows the GPU to operate cooler at baseline but also have tremendous room to overclock. |
Complete Thermal PaddingXFX maximizes the cooling effectiveness of our cards by increased the number of thermal padding throughout the card. This includes thermal pads on all VRMs, Memory and GPU on both sides of the PCB board to ensure stable high quality performance. |
Dual Ball Bearing FansXFX GPUs utilize double ball bearing structure fans that provide better endurance and efficiency by reducing friction heat which also makes it operate quieter and doubles the lifespan of your GPU fans. |

To accomplish my noble goal of Ultimate gaming Perfection, and to once again laugh at Console gamers who ALMOST got as fast as my pc, BUT NOT THIS TIME YOU CASUALS!! Even the most potent console (the xbox series x) only has a 12 TF GPU.. a 56 compute unit chip that runs at around 2ghz. I knew that I needed to call in the BIG guns. After a Research Grant from the Federal Taskforce for Noob Trolling, It was discovered E = M C Squared, SO that meant only one thing. We needed to Get a ALL AMD system built, to take advantage of Smart Access Memory for a free 0-10% performance boost, we needed to get a Merc 319 from xfx as well, since Hardware Unboxed and JaysTwoCents both on youtube, determined that the merc 319 6800 xt was the best air-cooled version of the 6800xt and could overclock almost as good as a water cooled card, without the mechanical failure point of the water cooler. We lost a number of Scientists along the way.. 5 alone to the Fortnite plague.. After the funerals, and after we burned the bodies to ensure there wouldnt be any contimination to the facility from anything ELSE that had been infected by Epic Game Store, we completed the parts list.
Ryzen 5800x -8 cores is the GO TO standard for gaming this gen. 6 are required, 8 is ideal.
Radeon 6800xt - Xfx Merc 319, best air cooled 6800xt as of time of writing
Asus gaming pro x570 - a motherboard. with slots. and ports.
Noctua D15 cpu cooler - for amazing Cpu Thermals
Case: Cooler Master h500 - for amazing full system thermals
SSDs: - 1tb samsung 970 boot drive, 2tb XPG S40G RGB SSD for games
Hard drives internal - 2x8tb iron wolf 7200 rpm hard drives
External hard drives - 2x6tb segate archive drives
Monitor - MSI 32" 1440p 144hz curved monitor, Asus 23" secondary both on monitor arm
Perhiphrials - Valve Index/w knuckles, Logitech x52 flightstick, Logitech G920 Steering wheel
This computer now DOMINATES any game I throw at it. It might not get the highest fps Specifically in GeForce sponsored titles, but the 6800xt still raytraces better than a 2080ti. Since most all games DONT take advantage of nvidia's "features" I opted for a graphics card that can turn all of its capabilities lose on Every game, not just the ones written for it.
No man's sky and most other games, 144fps+ at 1440p resolution, all settings as high as they can be set, and even 90 fps in Cyberpunk 2077. Any Multiplat game that is going to release both on console and PC, will be automatically optimized for Ryzen AND the 6800xt as the Rdna2 Gpu architecture is what powers the "next gen" consoles.
>10TF for the ps5
12<TF for the xbox series x
20 TF for the Pc running a 6800xt.
Nothing beats Pc gaming for pure fidelity, performance, options and no corporate overlord deciding what you can and cant play on it. I'm looking at YOU Sony.

As I've been playing the GPU temps have been at a a stable 70C during game play.
All in all I do recommend this GPU however at the price point it is quite steep. Considering that it is 100 dollars higher than AMD's original version the cooling and construction is definitely worth the extra price. As for comparisons to the 3080 FE I feel that it is more worthwhile to get it but what sold me on this was one I was lucky enough to get it this early after release and two I wanted to take advantage of the resizable bar AKA SAM.
My specs:
- AMD Ryzen 5 5600x
- MSI MPG B550 Gaming Edge Wifi
- 32 GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory
- 2x ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD
- XFX Speedster MERC319 Radeon RX 6800XT Black 16GB GDDR6
- Supler Flower Leadex III Gold 850W
- NZXT Kraken X73
- NZXT H710

XFX support was able to, after a couple chats on the phone with them, pull stock for their support to do an RMA. The RMA process was very quick after they received the card (2 days), and the new unit appears to be working fantastic. Card plays Cyberpunk 2077 at Digital Foundry’s “optimized settings” at like 60-90 FPS which fantastic. Even in my 11L SFF case it never breaks ~70C while running 100% utilization.
Initial review
——————
Worked for about 4 days, then started exhibiting cascading black flickering leading to system crashes. Was never stable on Windows for more than 5 minutes after that began.
Drivers reset, BIOS set back to default, new power supply and cables tried, multiple reseats, nothing. Backup card works fine with the system.
Now it won’t even POST past the VGA fault check on my ASUS motherboard. Fans spin, but will never boot to BIOS.

Only minor complaint is the size of the card itself. I barely fit into my Fractal Design Meshify C case. Had to remove one of the front fans. Video have the card in this case is attached. So make sure your case can fit this card!
