Heyho friendly experts,
I recently finished my film production study and want to spend my upcoming months
on trying out different independent multi-media and short film projects to put myself out there.
For that reason, I'm looking to set me up with a full hardware configuration at home, meaning
I'll also need a new PC altogether. After researching a bit, I decided to build one on my own for
the first time.
It's main purpose will primarily be video editing, secondarily light gaming, but that's really, really
secondary.
Now, I am fairly inexperienced when it comes to the intricacies of PC components, so I tried
using this site's Builder to get an overview of what I need specifically.
Here's what I got out of it with my 2000-2400$ budget:
CGDirector.com Parts List: https://www.cgdirector.com/pc-builder/?=yb1DgpciEml
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8GHz 12-Core Processor ($429.99)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 ($89.90)
Motherboard: MSI X570 Tomahawk ATX AM4 ($303.58)
GPU: Nvidia RTX 2060 SUPER 8GB - MSI Gaming X ($499.00)
Memory: 32GB (2 x 16GB) Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 C16 ($114.99)
Storage SSD: Crucial MX500 2TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($221.99)
Storage PCIe-SSD: Samsung 970 EVO 1TB M.2 Solid State Drive ($168.67)
Storage HDD: Seagate BarraCuda Compute 4TB, 3.5" ($89.55)
Power Supply: Corsair CX Series CX550M 550W ATX 2.4 Power Supply ($85.99)
Case: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 ($163.97)
Total: $2167.63
I certainly will switch out the Ryzen 9 3900X for a 3950X and I need an internal blu ray drive
of some quality, so I'll also need a case large enough to hold all these parts, but other than that,
due to being not very well versed in the building process and the inner workings,
I can't tell what else might be problematic or at least what is worth reconsidering.
So yeah, I'm hoping someone can give me a somewhat detailed rundown of what to do
right and what to avoid given my individual situation.
My budget is, let's say, 2500$ at absolute max, I probably won't upgrade the device anytime soon,
but maybe after two or three years if it's close to necessary I'll consider it, and I will have the parts
shipped to Germany, if that makes a difference at all.
I'm already grateful for anybody who can contribute and help me out a bit.
If there's anything I need to clarify or expound upon, just let me know.
Thank y'all so much!
