Help wanted. Is this PC Build the best for a 2D & 3D motion graphic designer?

Hi there,

I'm looking to buy a new PC. I'd say the current PC I'm using is roughly 7 years old now and it just isn't up to scratch for what I want to be using a Desktop PC for.

1. The budget is roughly £2500. Although if there is a perfect spec out there then it could potentially be bumped up to £3000.

2. My main workload is Motion Graphics, utilising 2d and 3d graphics, operating with After Effects, Photoshop, and Cinema 4d respectively. The secondary workload is video editing using software such as Premiere Pro or Avid.

3. I'm also a gamer and will be using the PC to play games in my spare time. (COD Warzone, Total War series etc)

4. I'd ideally want this PC to last a few years before I need to invest in an upgrade.

5. Shopping for parts in UK ideally but don't mind paying for international shipping (dependant on cost).

I put this into the custom pc builder on this website and this is what it spat out...

Power Supply: Corsair RMx Series RM750x 750W Power Supply ($134.99)
Case: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 ($163.97)

Is this good enough?

Some advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Tom

Hey Tom.
The build is excellent, though there are a few areas that you can take a closer look at:

We haven't added the newest, recently released Nvidia GPUs yet, because they are out of stock almost everywhere. But if you can get your hands on a RTX 3080, I'd suggest you buy that, as it is cheaper and performs better than the 2080 Super.

64GB of RAM is good, but every now and then, when I have After Effects and Premiere Pro open at the same time, I find myself thinking about wanting some extra. So if you work on large-res projects in high bit depths, 128GB (although it might sound like overkill) can very well be used by the apps you listed. (It would be 4x32GB Modules)

The Storage is great, I would leave that as is, the CPU, PSU and Motherboard too are excellent for your kind of work.

The Case is sort of a boxed case, which is wider than some others, giving you more room for upgrades, but of course if it does not suit you, there are a lot of other cases that would work just as well.
