My UPS may be underpowered for my workstation

I'm pretty sure it is.

My workstation, based on the Outervision calculator: 675w / 1300VA
Workstation PSU: 850w Seasonic Gold+
My UPS: Tripp Lite Line Interactive 480w / 900VA

My symptoms: when rendering Redshift with high settings, my UPS unit beeps and shuts off power to my workstation unless I rush to quit the render.

If this sounds completely ignorant, that's because it is. I was utterly unaware of UPS capacities when I had my workstation built. First question is, therefore, can anyone confirm that this should be a problem? Second question is, how does this work? Does it have anything to do with my line power circuit breaker potentially being tripped, or is this solely the UPS unit crying mercy?

Does this happen even when you're connected directly to AC power (i.e., not running off UPS battery)?
