Hello,
I'm looking for a desktop computer. Main use Animation on Maya (2020 and more)
I don't know how to build a PC by myself (beginner). I watched your videos and I think I'm in a good place.

Budget: around 2000$ CAD + or - (I can buy some components each month)
Main workloads: Animation (Autodesk Maya) secondary workloads: Editing and quick rendering (Arnold) and compositing for my animation (Blender, Photoshop, After Effect, Da Vinci Resolve, Nuke)
It should be nice to upgrade my PC in the near future but in 5 years or more
Country: Canada (French speaker)

PC-Builder Tool

CPU:
AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 4.5GHz 16-Core Processor ($541.93)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 ($89.90)
Motherboard: MSI PRO B650-P WIFI ATX AM5 ($200.18)
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800XT - XFX Speedster ($519.99)
Memory: 64GB (2x32GB) G.Skill Flare X5 DDR5-5200 CL36 ($179.99)
Storage PCIe-SSD: Crucial P5 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 Solid State Drive ($122.49)
Power Supply: Corsair RMx Series Platinum RM850x 850W Power Supply ($192.97)
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case ($139.99)
Total: $1987.44

My current Laptop is an ASUS ROG G750 JZ (2014). It works well but I'm looking for something more speed and fluid.

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4710HQ
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M
RAM: 16GB

Thank you for your help

Yep, this'll be a great upgrade for you. However, one change I'd make is switching to an NVIDIA card instead of the Radeon card. GeForce usually plays better with professional apps.

Hey Jerry, thank you for your advice, Do you have a recommendation for an NVIDIA card?

An RTX 3070 Ti or 3080 would be ideal at around that price point :)
