So I plan on starting game design and 3D modeling/animation. I was wondering if this build was a good place to start with these work ideas in mind, as well as some light gaming? Can anyone give me suggestions?

Definitely a great build to start for those workloads. The GPU in there is quite overpriced so I'd suggest looking around local shops for a newer GPU at around that price point. This might help - https://www.cgdirector.com/where-to-buy-pc-parts-cpus-graphics-cards-in-your-country/

Also, up the power supply to 550-650W to maintain future upgradeability. It shouldn't cost too much more than that 450W one.
