Budget: about $4,000 would be best, up to $5,000 would be okay, too
(I am aware that AMD and NVIDIA will release new generations of their products later this year and will then buy the corresponding new versions)
-GPU: RTX 3090
-CPU: Ryzen 9 5950x
-Cooler: be quiet! dark rock pro 4
-Ram: 64gb ddr4 3200
-Case: Fractal Design Meshify 2 XL
-Storage: Samsung 980 pro 1tb
-PSU: be quiet! straight power 11 platinum 1200W
-Motherboard: Asus ROG crosshair VIII Dark Hero
I want to get into Houdini VFX, do fluid sims, all that stuff.
In Blender I mostly use Geometry Nodes and do some Arch Viz. I also render all my Houdini stuff in Blender because I only have the Apprentice license of Houdini
Am I making any bad decisions here?
Are there any easy upgrades that would benefit Performance?
