To let this post be a bit easier to process, I need to make a few statements clear for the future build and my preliminary plan:
Some problems that I think about when it comes to have a future Nvidia card together with a GTX 1070 in the same build:
- I plan to get a consumer Nvidia GPU, saving and waiting for Nvidia rtx 4000 or 5000 series if my GTX 1070 can last that long
- CPU choice so far is leaning towards AMD Ryzen
- Reusing my current case if compatible for future components and thermal performance (Cooler Master Storm Stryker)
- The future GPU might be most likely be an open air style, since I barely see any blower style these days
- Yes I run software that can have use of a second GPU working on something seperate from my 3D softwares, it's not something unecessary for me
Some problems that I think about when it comes to have a future Nvidia card together with a GTX 1070 in the same build:
- Compatability for the components+drivers to be able to handle them, as they are of seperate performance
- Thermals if both of them would be open air
- Power draw, this should be ok if I get a PSU that can handle them both at the same time (taken into account they can both run at 100% performance)
- Underclocking and/or undervolting both or one of them seperately, for the reason of room temperature during summer
