Hi there,
my 4 year old BOXX workstation has aged a bit and I would like to upgrade the workstation and/or get a new laptop. Specs are:
BOXX Apex 2, i7-5820k, 32 GB DDR4, Nvidia Quadro 4200 (4GB), 240 GB SSD + 2TB SATA.
I do mostly CAD work on ArchiCAD (3D and 2D), Rhino + Vray for further modeling and rendering. All stills, no animations.
Since I have a workstation, I was initially thinking of adding a laptop, so I can work parallel and be mobile, which was necessary before the pandemic. Not sure, if I want to have a second workstation at my home office though, hence thinking of upgrading with an additional laptop and monitor. Realistically, I am not sure when traveling for work becomes an option again. My main goal is to reduce render times as my current machine is still ok with complex scences (archiviz). I would appreciate some thoughts whether it is worth and possible upgrading my workstation or alternatively invest in a laptop that would allow me working in parallel and be mobile.
Thanks,
