If you can find the CPU at that price, it's a great option for starting out with an HEDT system. Of course, if you don't necessarily need the option to add more GPUs in the future (just the single gpu) or need any of the other HEDT features that an x399 Motherboard brings, you can also look into a 3950X which would get you even higher multi-core performance and with added snappiness in active workloads.

Seems like the 599$ might have been a temporary deal as I am seeing it back up at 899$ currently.
